Beauty with a purpose is fitting for the reigning Miss Sugar Queen 2019, Christal Kapoor.

Ms Kapoor is a degree holder in English Literature, Language and Communications and Hindi Language and Culture from the University of Fiji.

She is currently pursuing her postgraduate certificate in International Relations and Diplomacy from the same university.

What are some of your hobbies?

I like socialising, travelling, meeting new people, cooking, ready, and creative writing.

How many places in Fiji have you been to?

I have travelled all around Viti Levu, thanks to my parents and their strong beliefs when it comes to educating their children about the island we call home.

I have also been to islands in the Mamanuca Group for the holidays.

We planned to visit Vanua Levu last year, but the cyclones hindered our plans.

Fingers crossed, after this lockdown is over, I will finally head to the north, and maybe a trip to Ovalau and the Yasawas.

What is the one spot in Fiji you would take every visitor to, and why?

I wouldn’t take them to just one spot. I would take them to Sigatoka, my hometown.

There are so many sites to see, both historical and tourist attractions.

There are also awesome places to grab a bite with friends and family.

What is your favourite place for a pie/coffee?

I enjoy my coffee. The most amazing coffee I had was at the Coffee Hub Fiji in Nadi– they have the best brownies too.

Their freshly brewed coffee, down-to-earth and friendly staff, and tasty pastries are all definitely welcoming.

In Lautoka, I would strongly recommend Café Dilla, or the newly opened café at Fresh Choice supermarket. Café Dilla reminds me of the true essence of Lautoka – sweet people, sweet smiles and sweet, satisfying cuppa.

What is your favourite secret backyard spot?

It has to be The Boatshed at Vuda Marina. I am a real Coral Coast girl.

I love all things sea and sand. The Boatshed gives you all that, and scrumptious food at affordable prices.

The best time to head there is just before the sunset for stunning views and a blissful environment to just let go of all your worries.

What is the one spot in Fiji on the top of your bucket list?

Savusavu. A quaint coastal town – what is there not to love?

I look forward to see the waterfalls, and tropical gardens. How can I forget the hot springs and J. Hunter Pearls.
