Fijians living in the containment zones who have not received any form of unemployment benefit will be given $90 by the Government.

This was announced by Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum last night.

The funds will be disbursed through Vodafone’s M-Paisa platform and Digicel’s MyCash platform and no fees will be charged by the two network providers for the withdrawal of these funds.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the amount was decided after the Government’s food ration pack which was distributed along the Suva-Nausori lockdown zone amounted to $43.50.

To ensure parity, money to purchase a similar quantity of rations twice will be provided to those in the Western Division first followed by those in the other containment zones.
The payout will begin tomorrow.

How can you access this fund?
Eligible Fijians can text their name, address and location and the number of people living in the household to the number which will be announced today.

Payments can also be made directly to bank accounts.
