COVID-19: ‘Lautoka Hospital Not Dangerous’

Lautoka Hospital is the safest place to be and not a cesspool of infection as perceived by many people, explained Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services Dr James Fong.
Dr Fong last night explained that 400 tests were conducted every four to five days and everyone was tested.
“They come back and test everyone and they actively separate all the negatives from the positives,” he said.
“Whether they are symptomatic or not they get tested. And they separate all the negatives from the positive. So it is very unlikely that when you are positive you will be infectious.”
Dr Fong said Lautoka Hospital was much safer than being outside.
He also pointed out that testing everyone outside the hospital would be a hard task.
He said the safety protocols at the hospital were stringent.
“We know where the virus is in that hospital. People should not perceive Lautoka hospital as a dangerous place to be.”
