Police Explain Viral Video Of Arrest

Police have labelled a video that surfaced on social media as of a man resisting arrest and Police using necessary force to subdue him.

The incident happened in Sigatoka yesterday as the man failed to follow directions given by the Police. When the officer approached to arrest him, the man is alleged to have resisted arrest.

The video shows the man being subdued by two Police officers as the man resisted arrest.

The man is then seen not conforming to instructions being given by the Police officers, which is followed by an officer using the Police-issued capsicum spray.

Police have confirmed that the man is in custody at the Sigatoka Police Station.

Police allegedly found sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana on the man after he was searched.

The Police officers involved have also been asked to explain their use of force.
