A group of friends have found a way to engage themselves during this second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The friends have formed a group called WE-FIJI and are continuously assisting families in need.

Yesterday, the group donated food packs to selected families from Maravu Settlement, Naiyala Settlement, Tacirua settlements, Sakoca, Veiraisi Settlement, Cunnigham, Nanuku Settlement, New Town, Waila in Nausori and Vuci Road.

The group is led by the Principal of Basden College Mohammed Khan.

Mr Khan said in due time his group would be involved in bigger projects which would benefit the communities at large.

“The food pack consists of basic food items. WE-FIJI consists of 20 members and we have taken money from our own pockets to buy these groceries,” Mr Khan said.

“We want to thank our families in Fiji and abroad who have also come together and gave whatever they could to help those that really need it.

“We also want to thank FMF for giving us 150 cartoons of breakfast crackers to be included in the food packs we have prepared.

“We did our assessment and selected families who really need the food pack,” he said.

Mr Khan added that they would be giving out 200 food packs.

“It is not much but we hope that it can help families that we would be distributing it to.”
