Colo-i-Suva Rainforest Eco Resort on Suva’s Princes Road is on the market again.

The resort valued at $6,000,000, invited offers of a tender, in an advertisement in the Fiji Sun.

The advertisement by real estate agent Jokhan Realtors said the resort owners were looking for a quick sale.

The resort refused to comment when contacted.

According to a close source, the New Zealand couple who own the resort were hoping to return to their home country.

“It is a walk in and walk out sale,” the source told SunBiz.

“Everything is pretty much new, because they had done some refurbishment.

“Since the standstill in the tourism industry from last year, the owners have not made enough to survive.

“If they remain open, they would be operating at a loss.

“It is sad, but it’s the best choice right now for them.”

Facilities
The resort comprises seven self-contained bures, three studio apartments and 12 budget accommodation with shared facilities.

A swimming pool with a bar, a fine dining restaurant, and a bar looking over the lake are among added features of the eco resort.

A small conference room and a gazebo by the resort’s restaurant adds to the attraction.

The resort sits opposite the Colo-i-Suva Police Post and the Colo-i-Suva Forest Park.

For travellers wanting a change in scenery, the resort offers distractions such as birdwatching.

About The Resort
Previously known as Raintree Lodge, the resort pioneered the first fully designed eco-tourism destination on the mainland.

It was one of a few selected budget rainforest resorts in the South West Pacific Islands when it opened September 1999.

Colo-i-Suva Rainforest Eco Resort offers a whole range of budget accommodation choices – all in an unspoiled rainforest setting brimming with Fiji birdlife untouched in their natural habitat.

The resort is surrounded by rainforest and a lake and small pond, with a 220-metre elevated position on the edge of Colo-i-Suva Forest Park.

As Suva’s only lake-side facility, the resort’s lakeside vista is surrounded by rainforest gardens and pond views.

With no public water supply connected to the resort, the owners had to develop its own water source.

The resort has tried to remain sustainable by finding ways to improve their eco tag.
