Ninety-year-old Nadi resident, Angamma says getting the COVID-19 vaccine is to keep her safe from the global pandemic.

Ms Angamma was among the hundreds of Lautoka residents who turned up at the Natabua High School Hall to get their first dose of the vaccine.

She was accompanied by her grandson, Deo Raj Goundar and her great-great-granddaughter, Dishika Pillay.

She is currently staying with her family in Lautoka before she moves back to her Nalovo home.

Ms Angamma, a widow, is partially deaf and becomes very weak at times.

When speaking to the Fiji Sun yesterday, she said it was a happy moment for her as she knew that the jab would protect her.

“I am happy, and I feel good that I will be receiving my first jab today (yesterday),” she said.

“We were at Koroipita yesterday (Tuesday) but the vaccines had run out, so we are here today to continue where we left off. I am doing this because I want to be safe.”

She is encouraging all the elderly and their families to come forward and get their dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
