Villagers in Ra under the Yavusa (tribe) of Vatukaloko were urged not to allow villagers who lived in Nadi or Lautoka to enter.

The Vatukaloko Development Advisory Committee spokesperson, Sele Tagivuni made the announcement to all village heads and team leaders of Draunivi, Namacuku, Mali, Nakorosago and Nadokana.

Due to the current COVID cases in Nadi and Tavua Mr Tagivuni said it was important for these villages to set COVID-19 safety protocols to protect their villagers from  the virus.

“The village will not escape and it will still be there for you,” he said.

“But for now, it is urgent for us to protect the villagers and set strict safety protocols measures.”

He urged village heads and their team leaders to convey the message to their families.

“We need the cooperation of the team leaders and the Turaga Ni Koro (village heads).

“They have the responsibilities for every movement in and out of the village.”

He said it should be no suprise to anyone who arrived that they would not be allowed to enter.
