Operations Not Affected With Positive Cases: ACP Tudravu
Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.

The Police officers, who tested positive for COVID-19 in Suva, will not affect the Fiji Police Force operations in any way.

While assuring the nation on the safety and frontline work by Police, Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said two Police officers at Nasinu Police Station had tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

He said they did not in any way affect the Police operations in place.

“Reserve officers are well prepared for the worst-case scenario and the force has a plan in place for that,” he said.

“We are classified as a high risk in terms of our job on the frontline.

“I have emphasised on the COVID-19 protocols and to stay in a bubble. That is something we have maintained all along and it is part of our work to the frontline.

“I am not surprised about the cases, but I was hoping that we could go through this COVID-19 pandemic with nil cases in the force. Again the risk is always there because our officers are on the frontline,” Acting Commissioner Tudravu added.

At the forefront

He said the last thing he wanted was for any Police Station to be in  lockdown totally for more than 20 or 30 officers to become infected.

“We are there at the forefront and we are looked at with hope so we must look after ourselves and provide that posture in front of the members of the public. That will help them gain confidence as we move forward,” Acting Commissioner Tudravu said.

“I had reiterated to officers the simple rules of precautionary measures that must be followed.

“We are concentrating also on more effort on safety in our work bubbles and with families.”

He added that he had reiterated to personnel the simple rules of precautionary measures to be followed.
