From A Commercial Farmer To Painter

A commercial farmer in Caloci, Seaqaqa, has expanded his business.
Apart from being a commercial farmer, Mohammad Qaiyum Ali is now operating a painting business Professional True Coats amid the pandemic.
Mr Ali said he had to divert his services to allow his first business Seaqaqa Farm Fresh to remain financially viable.
He said the money he earned from his painting jobs were used to maintain his farm operations.
“During a time like this, we have to think outside the box and use innovative ideas to remain financially stable,” he said.
Mr Ali commenced with his new business on March 15.
He has a New Zealand qualified national certificate in painting, wall coverings and spray techniques.
“I have also completed my Painter craft trust diploma from the Masters Painters Association in New Zealand,” he said.
Mr Ali has more than 10 years of painting experience under his belt.
He stated with this expansion, it was a great opportunity to use his skills and give expert advice to people in the Northern division and across other areas in Fiji.
“We do house, commercial buildings, schools, hospitals and roof paintings”.
Mr Ali is also providing wall-papering decoration and airless spray painting to his customers.
“I have advanced tools and equipment with me that helps me to complete the work in a less period of time,” he said.
“For example, a job carried out by three painters with roller and brush would take few weeks to complete but with airless spraying, it will take only few hours to complete”.
Mr Ali added the advantage of using airless spraying was it provided a superior quality and finish.
