From a cashier to managing a major local supermarket, Nazreen Nisha never looked back while pursuing a new dream to open her own bakery.

The decision to resign from her position as store manager at Extra Supermarket in Lautoka wasn’t easy but with her positive mindset, she was determined to see that future succeed.

With no experience at all in running a bakery, Ms Nisha is the proud owner of Zoom Bakery, located at Ramasre in Lautoka.

“I didn’t have any experience in the bakery field, but then I thought to give it a go and started off in December of last year during COVID-19. I faced difficulties, but I managed to strive,” Ms Nisha said.

The 32-year-old from Wairabetia, Lautoka, like many other Fijians, faced many challenges in life. Despite that, she was keen to fulfil her goal.

“I started at Shop N Save Supermarket as a cashier and then I went on to be the floor supervisor. I resigned after working there for eight years and moved on to join Extra Supermarket,” she said.

“Personally, I struggled for long. When I was working at the supermarket, early in the morning I was the one opening and closing the supermarket daily from 6am to 8pm. When you don’t have parents the hardships you go through is unimaginable.

“I worked my way up and finally graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Management from the Fiji National University last year.”

Going forward, Ms Nisha and Zoom Bakery plans to diverse into pastry later in the year.
