Labasa midfielder Siotame Kubu said food rations were handed over to him yesterday at the Parmod Enterprises Limited garage.
Mr Kubu thanked the timely assistance to Labasa Football Association.
There were 24 food packs.
The father of two children said despite the North being COVID-19 contained, Fiji Football Association had thought of the players.
Captain for the Labasa Women’s Football team Jotivini Tabua shared similar sentiments.
“Many players make sacrifices to represent their district and even at national level,” Ms Tabua said.
“The donation of these food rations means a lot to every single footballer and their families, especially during this pandemic.
“At the moment many women players are struggling because they depend on the allowance they receive when taking part in games.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said because they started to roll out the assistance, the Northern teams can expect more rations.
“Today we have reached out to the Labasa men’s and women’s teams,” Mr Patel said.
“We will soon be finalising the list for the senior division men’s and women’s and then we will roll out food rations to them as well.
“A survey was conducted with strict criteria to identify the footballers whose livelihood were affected because of zero football activities since late April.”
