Residents of Naqiroso settlement in Velovelo, Lautoka received cartoons of food rations containing flour, rice, milk and biscuit among other basic food items on June 11.

The rations were provided by Lautoka based company JPT Enterprises and the District office for Lautoka assisted with distribution.

Settlement headman Ratu Sione Ravusoli said the timely assistance would help many who were unemployed due to the Covid19 pandemic.

“It’s really helped the community because us at the moment have been affected by Covid19, no job so this is very helpful. We have 17 houses and more than 125 people, this will help in some way, one box one house,” he said.

JPT Enterprise Director Paul Kim said there was a need to help the less fortunate at this time.

“Don’t lose hope, we have to overcome this soon, god will lead our way. Maybe people can find a way to overcome,” he said.

District officer Lautoka Apisai Vularika acknowledged Mr Kim for his efforts to assist the residents of Naqiroso settlement.

“On behalf of the government we want to thank you for your kind donation to the people ofNaqiroso settlement, it’s for 17 households so thank you very much for your contribution,” he said.
