Food Processors (Fiji) Pte Limited is going through a transformation phase with many new initiatives in terms of business direction, policy environment and the governance.

The prime focus has been strategically placed on internal control, checks and balances and increased sales, particularly the export.

The local sales are low due to the tourism market being down; as such the company concentrates on the export market.

Board Chairman, Raj Sharma said that the company in the last five months had carried out a significant role in driving the rural economy, primarily getting the agricultural produce from the farmers and continues to focus more in wider varieties of produce.

“The sales mostly consist of export which is 50 per cent above budget, and has provided a cushion in the operation, compared to local sales which is at 87 per cent of the target.

“Overall sales performance has been 21 per cent above forecast.

“The company this year for the last five months has recorded a surplus of $0.196m and is a result of remarkable dedication from the acting chief executive officer Raneel Mudaliar and the entire team at Food Processors Fiji Limited.”

Mr Sharma further said that there were day to day challenges which were being managed well.

The company is in operation with 50 per cent workforce and complies with all Ministry of Health requirements.

“We follow strict COVID-19 protocols at our factory and our staffs have been provided with all Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) for safety and also ensure that they remain within their work bubble.

Most of our workers reside close to our factory.

“At present, our focus is on seasonal based agricultural products such as dalo, cassava, ivi, jackfruit, taro and bele leaves to meet our export orders.

“Since our production is focused on high end agri-commodities, we therefore request the farmers to contact us if they have ample supplies.

“Farmers are also encouraged to carefully follow the standard protocols and requirements put in place by the Ministry of Health during this pandemic.

“The farmers or suppliers can make arrangements on agricultural raw material pickups by contacting Rohit Prasad (Sales Manager) on 992 1325 and the supply chain team.”

Solar Farm project

In addition, the company is also looking at maximum use of the Batiri farm, whereby technical expertise of the Ministry of Agriculture is sought and the Minister for Agriculture has given assurance to get this done, said Mr Sharma.

Mr Sharma mentioned that company was also talking to Ministry of Economy, Climate Change section on the possible Solar Farm project in Batriri.
