BSP Life Chief Investment Officer and Oceania Hospitals Executive Director Pramesh Sharma has been charged with 13 counts of indecently annoying a person and was released on bail yesterday.

He appeared before Magistrate Liyanage Wickramasekara and was represented by lawyers Devanesh Sharma and Filimoni Vosarogo.

Mr Vosarogo informed the court that defence had received the first phase disclosures and requested if Mr Sharma’s plea could be deferred until they received the second phase disclosures.

He also told the court that his client had two reliable sureties, who are his family members, and he had his client’s passport which he was ready to surrender to the court.

Magistrate Wickramasekara informed Mr Sharma of his strict bail conditions which included not to re-offend, not to have any form of contact with the complainant, to surrender his passport and not to change his residential address without the court’s knowledge.

It was also revealed in Court that each count that Mr Sharma was charged with represents each Viber message that he allegedly sent to the complainant.

Mr Sharma’s file has been transferred to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for consolidation of charges and the case has been adjourned to August 9 for mention.

The allegation was highlighted after a complaint was lodged with the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission.
