Expect France-based Vilimo­ni Botitu and Aminiasi Tu­imaba to make the 13-member squad for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

The duo’s inclusion during the final day of the PacificAus Sports Oceania Sevens boosted the young Fijian men’s sevens team.

Prop Meli Derenalagi hailed Boti­tu and Tuimaba for availing them­selves for the Olympic Games.

“Their presence and experience boosted the boys,” Derenalagi said.

On Monday, FASANOC clarified that they did not include Botitu’s name to the list of Team Fiji squad that was given to the media.

Head coach, Gareth Baber is ex­pected to name his final 13-member squad on Friday.

Other players who could make the selection include, Bristol Bears Semi Radradra, new find Sireli Maqala, Joseva Talacolo, Iosefo Masi and Jiuta Wainiqolo.

While old hands like Derenala­gi, Josua Vakurunabili, Kalione Nasoko, Kitione Taliga and Jerry Tuwai are sure starters for the Olympics.

 

Way Over
Meanwhile, the Team Fiji men’s and women’s teams are training in Townsville before they fly over on July 8.

They’ll join the rest of the Team Fiji contingent at Nadi Interna­tional Airport.

From there, they’ll catch the flight to Narita.
