Nasese Private Hospital is introducing fast and convenient drive-through COVID-19 tests starting today.

The sample is taken through a nasal swab and the result is in within 30 minutes costing $50.

Nasese Private Hospital Head of Clinical Department Dr Virgilio De Asa Junior said people can get tested in the comfort of their vehicle.

“The drive-through is for the convenience and safety of the people,” Dr De Asa said.

“We can’t avoid the fear of patients entering the hospital or getting out of their comfort zone. What we are trying to do is provide the service in a safe and more convenient way.

“We decided to open this new service to the public and it will assist the Government as well. We support the Government and testing is important to identify those at risk.”

Dr De Asa said they also had plans for their co-operate partners/ clients who wanted to reopen safely and wanted to have their employees screened.

“I know the Ministry is stretched right now and if we do identify a positive case then we inform the Fiji Centre for Disease Control (CDC) so that they can be aware of it.”

Dr De Asa said they would follow the Ministry of Health protocol where they’d ask anyone who tested positive to isolate, and they would follow up with calls every three or four days.
