Tourism Fiji’s new chief executive officer, Brent Hill.

Brent Hill is the new chief executive officer of Tourism Fiji.

He is a marketing senior executive, who most recently was the executive director of marketing for the South Australian Tourism Commission.

He brings over 16 years of experience in tourism and digital marketing, advertising, branding, communications, campaign and executive strategy.

He replaces Matt Stoeckel, whose tenure ended in December 2020.

Tourism Fiji chairman Andre Viljoen said Mr Hill’s immediate focus would be to work with the board and Fiji’s health authorities to restore tourism activity.

Tourism minister, Faiyaz Koya said: “We are turning the corner now with the rollout of our national vaccination programme in anticipation of market re-entry beyond our traditional markets.”

In his immediate past role as executive director of marketing for the South Australian Tourism Commission, Mr Hill was credited for growing total tourism expenditure in the region by 53 per cent.

Tourism expenditure rose from A$5.3B (FJ$8.23B) to A$8.1B (FJ$12.598B) in a four year period.

He also led South Australian tourism’s recovery following the devastating bushfires in the state by developing successful campaigns to re-generate industry business.

He was also responsible for an A$30M (FJ$46M) annual marketing budget and 55 staff across the world to market South Australia.
