Head Coach Vern Cotter wants the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians to spring a surprise against the All Blacks in the second Test in Hamilton on Saturday.

And he wants his men to go into the overdrive after they went down 23-57, in their first Test in Dunedin last Saturday.

Cotter knows it would be another tough and physical game but he’s confident his men will stand up and surprise the All Blacks.

“The All Blacks will try and counter our ruck place so we imagine it will be more physical around that area this weekend,”Cotter said.

“Technically, we are looking at ways we can surprise them so the team is in good spirits. But we’ve got one player that’s gone to Auckland and another player in Waikato for an MRI scan.

“I think everybody will be up and running on Thursday and feeling 100 per cent for the weekend.”

The Flying Fijians were praised for their effort in winning turnovers last week.

“I think the teams need to be in the highest level they have to be good in scrums and lineouts and the set piece also rather than scrambling for position and feeding off scratch wanting to dominate certain parts of the game,” Cotter said.

Winger Eroni Sau will miss the match after being taken to Auckland for a medical checkup.

He is the only one so far that will be unavailable while other minor injuries are being monitored, including captain Levani Botia (knee).

Cotter rated the work rate of flankers Johnny Dyer, Mesulame Kunavula and No. 8 Albert Tuisue.

“They did a very good job in stealing the ball. We need to defend the lineouts, we’ve worked hard, now we know where we stand and parts of the game we need to work on.

“We had a good meeting on Monday, the players stood up and took part in presenting on the areas they would like to improve in.

“As coaches we are looking at details as well to add to them and the whole group is looking forward to another crack at the All Blacks.”
