Good to see our top halfback Frank Lomani has joined the Flying Fijians camp in Hamilton, New Zealand, yesterday.

His inclusion along with Queensland Reds halfback Moses Sorovi will definitely bring relief to Flying Fijians head coach, Vern Cotter.

Lomani, Sorovi and Teti Tela were our Australia-based players who were held up due to the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Melbourne Rebels rep took the gym do his workout and indicated his readiness to play against the All Blacks in this Saturday’s second Test in Hamilton.

With Lomani and Sorovi’s unavailability, Cotter had to field rookie halfback Simione Kuruvoli.

The Tailevu rep played well  before he was replaced in the second half because of a head knock.

Meanwhile, two words by now must be imprinted in the minds of the All Blacks from last Saturday’s first-test win over Fiji in Dunedin after something of an onslaught up front from a fired-up visiting side – ‘breakdown’ and ‘physicality’.

“Oh you’ve got to give them some credit,” All Blacks assistant coach Plumtree said of the Fijians, days out from Saturday’s second test against the same opponents, in Hamilton.

“There’s some pretty big boys in that pack, and they tested us in some areas, which was good for us.

“You could see a lot of them come from European clubs where they’re well coached and well drilled.

“There was some pretty sore bodies, certainly the boys knew they were in a test match.”

Plumtree said they are “definitely expecting it to go up a couple of notches” in what should be another brutal breakdown battle at FMG Stadium Waikato.

Both teams are expected to name their line-up today.
