Ex-Bati Centre Switches To Union
Brayden Wiliame has hopped from rugby league to union by joining French Top 14 club Perpignan.

The Fijian Bati will be without centre Brayden Wiliame in this year’s Rugby League World Cup.

This was after the St George Illawarra Dragons centre has put pen to paper a three-year deal to switch to French Rugby.

The Fijian international, who has played nine games for the Bati to go with his 45 National Rugby League (NRL) appearances and 77 English Super League appearances, has made the decision to hop codes. He will join Perpignan.

Wiliame has already spent time in France, having played for the Catalans Dragons between 2017 and 2019.

While the signing of the now 28-year-old raised eyebrows at the time, he has become a fixture in the Dragons backline this season and is likely to remain there for the next few weeks at least.

Wiliame has managed to cross for five tries in his eleven games this season, while also defending solidly.

Meanwhile, former Flying Fijians lock Tevita Cavubati has also signed up with Perpignan.

Cavubati played for the Flying Fijians at the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups.

He had finished off his contract with the Harlequins.

He missed out selection in last year’s Autumn Nations Cup and again in the July Test matches against the All Blacks in New Zealand.
