Nawaikula, No Longer MP

Lawyer Niko Nawaikula is no longer a Member of Parliament (MP).
Last night he released a letter on his Facebook account from the Speaker, in which Ratu Epeli Nailatikau informed him that his seat was being vacated.
According to the letter released by Mr Nawaikula, Ratu Epeli’s decision was based on Mr Nawaikula’s name being struck off from the National Register of Voters.
It is understood that the now former MP had registered to vote as Niko Nawaikula when his name is Nikolau Tuiqamea.
Last night he said: “MY MPS SEAT IN PARLIAMENT VACATED – I AM NO LONGER MP.
“I have received the following letter from Speaker vacating my seat on account of a Notice From Supervisor of Election on the use of my name Niko Nawaikula.
“It means I am no longer a Member of Parliament.
“I have the option to challenge this in court. I have contacted my Solicitor. I have also contacted some very close friends to help me finance my court challenge.
“I wish to thank my wife, Mili, and family and all who have stood by me in our struggle to reclaim for us our Fiji,” he said.
He signed off his comments as Niko Nawaikula.
