60K Masks For Lautoka Families

More than 60,000 surgical masks will be distributed to vulnerable families in the Lautoka area.
The masks were donated by the Christian Life Trust group in Auckland, New Zealand and would be distributed to families in lockdown areas and those who couldn’t afford to purchase proper surgical masks.
Food With Love Mission Fiji group president, Paul Kim, who administered the assistance, handed over the masks to the Commissioner Western, Mesake Ledua in Lautoka last Friday.
Mr Kim, who has been at the frontline helping needy families around Fiji during these trying times, said continuing the assistance to Fijian families brought about peace to him.
He said there were many helpless families who were still struggling to get their proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
“We hope that these masks will be distributed to the poor people, those in lockdown areas, those who cannot afford to buy proper face masks, these are for them,” said Mr Kim.
“The team is now concentrating on Fiji. Once they collect more masks, food rations and other items to help Fiji’s fight against COVID, they will definitely send it over to help the people.”
He has promised that more assistance was on its way to Fiji.
Mr Ledua acknowledged Mr Kim and the Christian Life Trust group for the kind gesture in donating the face masks.
“This will certainly help us in our fight against containing the spread of COVID-19 and this will help our people to comply with the protocols by wearing a mask,” he said.
Anesthetic consultant based at the Lautoka Hospital, Dr Mara Vukivukiseru said he was appreciative to Mr Kim and his team for helping Fijians in this time of crisis.
