Police will come down hard with resources and bring perpetrators of crime to justice.

The stern warning was issued by the Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho while commenting on two men who are in Police custody for their alleged involvement in a robbery at a shopping complex in Nakasi.

The two allegedly conspired to steal the weekend takings of more than $240,000 from supermarket employees during a routine bank run on Monday morning.

Police are also searching for two others who were allegedly involved in the robbery.

Brigadier-General Qiliho calls on people to be mindful of their security and those who are perpetrators of such criminal activities.

“We won’t let these kinds of things go by. Times are hard and these kinds of people should not make matters worse because we will deal with them according to law,” he said.

“We have managed to keep the crime rates at a much lower level than to what it has been in the past years but one of these incidents is bad enough and unacceptable.

“Despite better statistics on crime rates in the last few months, it will not make us rest on our laws. We will still go out and deal with these issues because we want to continue to reduce the crime rates and look after the safety and security of all Fijians.”

Police are also requesting anyone who may have witnessed or seen anyone moving in a suspicious manner before 9 am at the Rups Mega Centre near the HFC Bank is requested to call Crime Stoppers on 919.
