No money has yet been recovered from the $240,000 robbery at Shop N Save Supermarket, Rups Mega Centre on Monday, Police said.

This is after two men, were taken into Police Custody over the incident which was captured on CCTV.

It is believed that the getaway driver of the taxi surrendered himself to the Police soon after dropping the two men.

From that information a second arrest was made – a security officer.

The weekend’s earnings were being taken to the bank when it was intercepted by two robbers just as a security officer was stepping out of the supermarket.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the two were still being questioned as the hunt for two other suspects continues.

Police did not disclose the identities of the men in custody.

Ms Naisoro said community support was needed in the apprehension of the two men and people with information should come forward.

Eye witness, Rajnesh Lingam was shopping with his wife when he heard a commotion.

“I came rushing out of the supermarket wanting to know what happened,” he said.

“All I gathered was that there was a robbery.”

Niumaia Vosawaqa, a Nakasi resident, said such actions should not be entertained.

He said he heard the news from his friends who went to the shopping centre later that day.

He said he was surprised that members of the public did not intervene or help.
