300 Suva City Council Staff Receive Second Dose

Almost 300 staff members of the Suva City Council received their second dose of AstraZeneca Vaccine yesterday.
Suva and Lami special administrator Isikeli Tikoduadua said they made sure that the vaccination was brought to the employees instead of telling employees to look for vaccination sites.
The staff members received their doses at the Suva Civic Centre. The council’s administrative employees had their jabs in the morning while the sanitation and other workers received theirs during the day.
“I urge everyone to work towards achieving the national target for vaccination. In the end, all Fijians will benefit,” Mr Tikoduadua said.
“We are also happy that the majority of the market vendors have been vaccinated. Our staff in the market have been checking vaccination cards with identification cards.
“We are also keeping an eye out for fake cards which have been rumoured to be going around.”
Sanitation employee Shalendra Kumar said he was happy getting his second jab because this meant keeping his family safe.
“I am not only doing this for me and my family but I want things to go back to normal,” he said.
Another council employee Jonetani Waqa said he was hoping that the vaccination target was reached and hoped schools would open.
