National hockey rep Catherine Thaggard enjoys travelling to new places and spending time with her family.

Ms Thaggard has been playing hockey for the past 15 years. She captained the national hockey team from 2014 to 2019.

She also captained her hockey team to a gold medal at the Pacific Games in 2015.

The 33-year-old is currently a sales support officer at Kontiki Finance Limited.

“I am happily married with a beautiful daughter who is 11years old,” she said.

“I also run an online boutique called StyleBureFj on Instagram.”

“And a non-profit charity page called Thrift with a Change, which is run by me and a group of friends who sell clothes online and use the money to purchase food packs for people in need, hygiene packs for our homeless families and care packs for solo mothers.”

“This is a small initiative,” she said.

What are some of your hobbies?
I absolutely love playing hockey.

This has been my passion since I was in high school.

I remember being put in a situation where I had to choose being part of the paddling team to go to Australia when I was in Form 3 or go to Levuka for school hockey.

Go figure.

I chose Levuka and that’s when I knew hockey would be my life.

Three years later and I made my debut in the national team at the age of 17.

Hockey is something that makes me happy, it makes me feel complete.

Hockey is also where I met my husband.

Other hobbies include drinking kava with my friends and family, spending time with my daughter Macay, binge watching series on NetFlix. My weirdest hobby would be my love for statistics and numbers.

I randomly research stats on different sporting personalities, sporting teams, winning streaks for coaches and just random information.

All my friends come to me when they want to know information about something really random.

How many places in Fiji have you been to?
I have visited Mana Island, Leluvia Island, BeachComber Island, Levuka and Vanua Levu.

I also did a round trip around Viti Levu with my best friends in 2019.

What is the one place in Fiji you would take every visitor to, and why?
Definitely Savusavu.

Savusavu is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to and it’s also where my dad is from. I would love to show them how beautiful and chilled the place is.

And also to give them an insight into the way people live in Vanua Levu.

What is your favourite place for a pie/coffee, and why?
Hot Bread Kitchen.

Their lamb and cheese pie is my favorite.

Not a coffee person so Anchor strawberry flavoured milk does the trick for me.

What is your favourite secret backyard spot, and why?
My favourite place would be on our back porch on the hammock.

Watching Netflix and chilling.

The Sawa-i-lau Caves.

The Sawa-i-lau Caves.

What is the one spot in Fiji on the top of your bucket list, and why?
Sawa-i-Lau caves in the Yasawas.

I have heard so many stories about how beautiful and majestic the place is.

I would love to see the place for myself and experience that surreal feeling when going through the caves.
