Rugby Back In October?

In a move to get back to normalcy and restart the competition, the Fiji Rugby Union has reminded all union executives in the country to ensure that all their players and officials are vaccinated.
By getting players and officials vaccinated is in-line of FRU’s plan to resume competition in October.
FRU chief executive officer, John O’Connor, sent a Mandatory Vaccination Policy to all affiliated unions around the country.
“Thank you for continuing to comply with COVID-19 compliance requirements and for encouraging your executives, officials and players to get vaccinated,” O’Connor stated.
“We have been continuing discussions with venue owners (City and Town Councils and the Fiji Sports Council) and it has become very clear that we will only be able to use their facilities if everyone is fully vaccinated.
“As such in accordance with our Circular No. 13, we urge you to ensure that all your executives, management, match officials and players in the different categories are fully vaccinated.”
O’Connor urged the unions to send in all documents to assist FRU.
“We also greatly appreciate it if you could send us the list of your vaccinated players in the under-19, development and senior teams for the men’s competition and the list of vaccinated players in the senior teams for the women’s competition,” he said.
“The information will help us plan and determine the competitions to focus on once all clearance is given.
“Our return to play protocols is clear that any competition will only kick off four weeks of preparation.
“We would greatly appreciate receiving the above information by the end of August 2021.”
Should the competition resume, all teams will be gunning for the Inkk Mobile Farebrother Challenge Trophy from holders Naitasiri.
Namosi will be next in line to try and wrestle the Holy Grail from the Highlanders in the third round of the Skipper Provincial Cup competition where the Inkk Mobile Farebrother Trophy will be at stake.
Fans are also urged to please adhere to all COVID-19 restrictions in getting vaccinated in order to watch your teams play.
