Sigatoka Vehicle Accident Causing Power Disruptions

There was an unplanned power outage this morning at about 7:56am Wednesday 25th August, 2021 due to a vehicle colliding into an EFL power pole in Malaqereqere, Sigatoka.

This caused a power disruption to our valued customers in Nadiri, Fijian Resort, Yulusila, Naicovi, Cuvu Health Centre, Rukurukulevu and Cuvu area.

Teams were dispatched to attend to this matter which required the accident site to be made safe.

Teams are currently working on replacing the damaged EFL power pole. Repairs are anticipated to be completed by 6pm this afternoon before power supply would be fully restored to the affected
customers.

EFL kindly requests road users to exercise caution while driving and maneuvering vehicles/trucks and machinery to avoid causing damages to EFL assets.

EFL wishes to advise the public that EFL will take appropriate action to recover repair costs associated with damages to EFL assets, as well as report the same to relevant authorities (Police, Labour Department, etc.) for them to investigate and take appropriate action.

The EFL sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused to all affected customers due to this unplanned power outage which was beyond our control.
