Let’s Go Local: It’s The Navutu Star Resort For Epeli Tuibeqa
Local fashion designer Epeli Tuibeqa and the Navutu Star Resort.

Epeli Tuibeqa’s smile is as glorious as the clothes he designs.

Carrying a soothing aura wherever he goes, Mr Tuibeqa has built quite the reputation in the country’s fashion industry.

He is the creative mind behind the fashion couture label, Kuiviti.

Describing masi (tapa cloth) as his canvas, Mr Tuibeqa weaves culture and mana intricately into his designs.

He intertwines the historical value of Fiji delicately with contemporary art in the garments he designs.

His fashion can easily be called the duality of historical awareness and practicality.

Mr Tuibeqa was born and raised in Suva.

What Are Some Of  Your Hobbies?
I love swimming, playing the guitar and singing.

And also just hanging out with friends either for a good kava mix or just tea and pastries (I prefer the tea and pastries more).

How Many Places In Fiji Have You Been To?
I’ve been to quite a few places – hard to count at this point.

Most memorable one will be Navutu Stars Resort in the Yasawas.

What Is The One Place In Fiji You Would Take Every Visitor To, And Why?
There are two actually.

Yanuca island – it is a few minutes out from Taveuni.

It’s beautiful and quiet and the picnic spots are beautiful.

The villagers are so friendly and accommodating.

And how can I forget the dreadful but rewarding hikes.

Navutu Stars Resort in the Yasawas would be the second one – amazing food, lovely people, and a breathtaking view.

What Is Your Favourite Secret Backyard Spot, And Why?
I don’t have a backyard to begin with, but if I did, I’m sure it’ll be on a hammock under a tree on my phone watching Netflix, sipping on a cocktail.

What Is Your Favourite Place For A Pie Or Coffee, And Why?
Coconut pie from Diana’s Kitchen and cassava pie from The Dropout Bakes – both of which are home-based pastry businesses.

What Is The One Spot In Fiji On The Top Of Your Bucket List, And Why?
Qilaqila group of islets, also known as the Bay of Islands in Lau.

A few of my friends have been there.

Judging from the pictures, the sea is so pristine, the caves are a must-see and I would love to have a fashion photo-shoot inside one of those caves.
