Domestic investors are major contributors to the growth of the Fijian economy, says Investment Fiji’s acting chief executive officer, Kamal Chetty.

In order to support local projects, Investment Fiji’s facilitation division assisted domestic investors with a range of service, to ease implementation, he said.

“One of our key services is investment project management which enables and assists domestic investors to set up and grow through comprehensive after-care support,” Mr Chetty said.

The facilitation division provides aftercare services and assists domestic investors grow and implement projects with the ethos of improving capacity and facilitation support.

“It is encouraging to see that local companies are putting money back into our economy during these unprecedented times.

“This shows domestic investor confidence in our economy and developing our sector-based opportunities.”

Over 200 Local Enquiries
For the first half of 2021, Investment Fiji received over 200 enquiries from domestic investors which resulted in over 1000 customer meetings capturing a wide range of assistance provided to domestic investors, he said.

This led to a number of local projects being implemented for the period.

“As part of our proactive approach to ensure investment enquiries convert to actual investments, the investment facilitation division has developed a comprehensive range of post-investment or after-care services,” Mr Chetty said.

Facilitation
Investment facilitation advisors ensure that:
– investors are adequately assisted throughout their business establishment,

– growth and expansion by regularly liaising with the investors, and

– assisting the investors who find difficulty in establishing their projects.

Currently, Investment Fiji is facilitating a number of local projects which are in development or near-implementation stages.

These include projects involved in wholesale and retail, real-estate, housing and tourism.
