Two major rugby unions have submitted their list of vaccinated players and officials to the Fiji Rugby Union before the August 31 deadline.

This was confirmed yesterday by FRU operations manager Sale Sorovaki.

He said the Tailevu Rugby Union and Nadi Rugby Union have sent in their list of names.

However, Sorovaki clarified that the Naitasiri Rugby Union and Nadroga Rugby Union have assured him that their list of names would be given by the end of this week.

Sorovaki issued a warning to players that they need to be vaccinated it they want to play for the Fijian Drua in next year’s Super Rugby.

“Remember, no jab no rugby, so let’s show some decency and get vaccinated so we can have some normalcy in our lives,” the former Flying Fijians captain said.

“By getting vaccinated, you will not only help us get back to rugby, but you could be considered for the Fijian Drua selection and a chance to play in Super Rugby.”

Sorovaki said Tailevu and Nadi have set the platform in getting their players and officials vaccinated before the given deadline.

“The deadline was Tuesday, but we understand that some players are out of reach, so we are giving them some time to follow the process.

“We are not forcing on you, it’s your choice to get injected or not.

“We are following Government protocols.

Unions that have yet to confirm when they are going to submit their list of names are Suva, Northland, Rewa and Namosi.

“Let’s hope everything is sent in by the end of this week so we can process and plan the competition well,” he added.

The list of names is for the senior men’s women’s, development squad and the Under-19.

It is understood that October is the proposed time to resume the Skipper Provincial Cup and INKK Mobile Fiji Rugby Farebrother Trophy challenge.
