Rakesa’s Paralympic Dreams Shattered

Team Fiji Paralympic athlete, Iosefo Rakesa, did not compete in both of his events at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

This was after he was denied a chance in his second event – the men’s javelin throw on Saturday.

It is understood that it was due to the technical time out in his shot put throw on Monday last week.

Fiji Paralympic Committee (FPC) expressed their disappointment.

The Facebook statement said: “He (Rakesa) has been denied a second time in participating at the Paralympics Tokyo2020 due to the technical timeout at his previous event.

“FPC has appealed this decision twice, however, was unsuccessful both times.

“Sefo and the entire team are devastated and are sorry for letting our FPC fans down.”

The Paralympics Games was officially closed last night.
