19-Year-Old Our Latest Road Fatality

A 19-year-old is believed to be the country’s latest road fatality victim following a motor vehicle accident along the Waikete Road yesterday morning.

The victim from Waikete Village was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old man from the same village.

The suspect and the victim were travelling along Waikete Road when they were stopped by a man from the same village who asked to be dropped off at Bau Road.

Whilst traveling along the Waikete Road, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to high speeds causing it to veer off the road.

The victim’s body was later retrieved by National Fire Authority Officers.

A postmortem will be conducted to ascertain cause of death.

The road death toll currently stands at 11 compared to 21 for the same period last year.

Investigations continue.
