Northerners Urged To Get Second Jab

Uraia Rainima is urging people of the Northern Division to step up and take their second jab and for those not vaccinated to do so.
The Commissioner Northern said: “We’re asking those who have not been vaccinated to do so as quickly because we have a timeline to open the borders.
“We continue to advise people to wear their mask and avoid social gathering. The only big favor we’re asking the communities is to assist us by following all COVID-19 protocols.
“This is for their own safety as our country and economic situation can make progress,” he said.
Mr Rainima said supermarkets that were closed for decontamination were re-opened and back in operation.
“This shows the Northern Division is progressing well in recovery mode,” he said.
“We’ve conduct contact tracing and crossing our fingers we don’t have any cases coming up in the community. We’re doing our best in controlling the situation and to clear the primary contacts for our patients from Namara.
“Until they give us the thumbs up, we will not open the lockdown area and even the curfew hours.”
Meanwhile, the North is doing well with the vaccination campaign hitting 90 per cent for the those who have already received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine while 36.3 per cent for the second dose.
Vaccine update: Macuata Province leads the Northern Division at 89.7 percent, Cakaudrove 86.4 per cent, Taveuni 83 per cent, Bua 78.5 per cent.
