Mum, Daughter, Friend Feed People Living On Nadi Streets

To Emily Koti, feeding people who are living on the streets of Nadi Town on Sunday is an act of worship.
The 64-year-old a mother of six, along with her daughter, Bereta Suluwaqalo, and friend Andrew Leong brought eight food packs with six bottles of juice.
The trio were seen yesterday giving out food to the hungry, many of whom anxiously opened the pack and couldn’t wait to eat the food.
Ms Koti, who arrived from Suva in April this year, still remains in Nadi due to the travel restrictions because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She said during their evening prayer devotion, she was urged to reach out to the people living on the street.
“This was a Bible scripture that came to me, 2 Corinthians 9:6 says, ‘Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully’,” she said.
“During my prayer I was urged to reach out to these people. It doesn’t matter the little things we have or that we cooked at home; we want to share it with them.
“I thank God that when I told my daughter and her friend about it, they were both willing to support me.”
She said her daughter job has been affected by the pandemic and she now conducts a small business at home with her friend.
Furthermore Ms Koti said giving out meals on the streets on Sundays would be continuous kind gestures for them.
“I believe this is an act of worship to God. Going to church is good, prayer is good, but we need to put in action the Christian kind of living,” she added.
