Fiji Bus Operators Welcome M-PAiSA Fare Payment Option

Fiji Bus Operators Association President Nisar Ali Shah has welcomed the move to introduce online payments for bus fares using M-PAiSA QR codes.
“We are in support of this so that it becomes easier for the travelling passengers to access their fare through the M-PAiSA card and they don’t have to top up; they don’t have to worry about anything because this is the way Fiji is going at the moment,” he said.
“The Government is also promoting M-PAiSA, you can see your FEA Bill, water bill even in supermarkets, service stations when you go the first thing you see is the M-PAiSA facility there, so we want to have the same easy access for the travelling passengers.”
He said discussions were underway to roll out the initiative early next year.
“It’s too hard for the public; sometimes they are staying in the interior or they can’t access the eTicketing card, money is not there, but the M-PAiSA card always has balance in there and why should we be having so many cards? One card does all,” he said.
Mr Shah said no such discussions have been made with Digicel Fiji Limited regarding the initiative.
Vodafone Fiji Pte Limited Chief Marketing Officer Rajnesh Prasad said he did not have the full details regarding the new venture with him when contacted yesterday however he said would respond by today.
