Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday made it clear that he cannot and will not stand with people who use ethnicity and faith to upstage Government’s philosophy.

Speaking on the iTaukei Radio talk show, Nai Lalakai, he said the new measures announced by Government confirm that the steep climb is over and “the warm courage of national unity” would get us there.

“It is a unity that transcends race, ethnicity, faith, age and background. It is based on an abiding love for our country,” Mr Bainimarama said.

“With my leadership, I will continue to ensure that it is based on the principle that we are all equal before God. This has been and will continue to be my Government’s philosophy.”

In the recent past, he said Fiji has gone through many adversities however we have stood every test and emerged as a better and more matured country.

He advised Fijians not to be deceived into believing claims made by Government’s opponents and their supporters.

Mr Bainimarama said they again tried to brandish Government’s actions to entrench stability, enhance wellbeing, and revive the economy with their outrageous claims.

“Under my leadership, Fiji has been a trailblazer on many fronts and gained global recognition. But petty politics is their department and we congratulate them for again displaying their flawed understanding.

“Some academicians think they are better than practitioners. They refuse to accept that our practice do not conform to their theories or their world views.

“We have been practising what we have been preaching. Some are out of the ordinary because they are best for Fiji. They are designed for you in the villages, in the Maritime Provinces, and in the highlands. They respond to Fiji’s circumstances and interests.

“Do not be hoodwinked into believing that what our opponents say is factual. They are not.”

Mr Bainimarama also stated that until Fiji hits its November target to reopen, we must continue to press ahead by increasing our vaccination rate and following the rules.
