Villiame Biraki, 26, graduated as a Royal Engineers regiment officer during the British Army passing out ceremony in the United Kingdom on September 10, 2021.

A 26-year-old, Villiame Biraki, created a piece of history and memorable moment for his family after being awarded the Best Drill Command Officer during the British Army passing out ceremony earlier this month.

Mr Biraki graduated from the Royal Engineers regiment at the British Army.

His family originally from Saqani in Cakaudrove province, are currently residing at Vunivau in Labasa.

Mother

Mother, Fane Kamikamica said on the eve of September 10, their son Mr Biraki had called them at about 10pm to inform them of his great achievement.

“We were overwhelmed and proud at the same time as a member of our family had received an award at one of the best military institutions in the world,” she gladly stated.

Ms Kamikamica said she never doubted her son’s capability, because he had always been a responsible and career-oriented child during his school years.

History

“My son had a past history of performing well in cadet training while attaining his secondary education at All Saints Secondary School,” the mother-of-three said.

“My son was awarded with the Best All-Rounder Trophy during his cadet passing-out parade at the school in 2013 and also shouldered the responsibility of being the head-boy of the college in that same year.”

Republic of Fiji Military Forces

The 49-year-old said her son joined the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) in 2018 as an officer cadet after which he applied to join the British Army the following year.

Mr Biraki left for the United Kingdom in February this year and spent his three months recruitment training before graduating.
