Avinash Ram will pay his land debts with the $10,000 prize money he received yesterday.

The 32-year-old is the winner of the Shop N Save and Ashabhai and Company PTE Limited, Rooster Easter Promotion.

Mr Ram and his wife Sareen Devi purchased land worth $42,000 to build their house. So far the couple had paid $26,000 with a balance of $16,000.

The couple drove all the way from Votualevu, Nadi to Suva to collect their prize money at the Shop N Save in Nabua.

His wife, Mrs Devi who usually does her monthly shopping at Shop N Save supermarket in Votualevu said said; “One day, I went shopping during this promotion period.

“I bought some rooster chicken, wrote my husband’s name on the receipt and dropped it into an entry bin.

“When we received a call that we had won the $10,000 cash, we thought it was a prank,” she said. Ms Devi said due to COVID-19 pandemic, their working hours were reduced, and no banks were willing to give them loans.

The couple were thankful for the promotion.

Shop N Save operations manager Central Division Ritesh Nand said the major draw for the promotion was done in May.

“Because of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, we were not able to hand over the $10,000 prize money to our winner.”

Mr Nand said there were also 16 consolation prizes of $200 vouchers in every branch of Shop N Save.

Ashabhai and Company PTE Limited sales and marketing supervisor Eroni Navunsaravi congratulated Mr Ram and thanked all their customers for participating in this promotion.

The Rooster Easter promotion started in March and ended in April this year.
