Dead chickens in Korovuto, Nadi.

A family in Korovuto, Nadi was shocked to find their chicken and roosters dead last Friday and on Saturday morning.

Sakiusa Navunilawa said it was the first time it had happened to them.

“We have over 10 chickens and two roosters and three died on Friday and the rest on Saturday,” Mr Navunilawa said.

“For them to die all at the same time is strange. It was almost like they were poisoned. They were moving and their eyes turned grey and then died. It is almost like watching someone slowly die.

“We suspect that they have eaten something that was poisoned, but we leave it at the hands of the police.”

Police spokesperson Wame Bautolu confirmed that they have received a report on the matter and investigation is ongoing.
