The Nadroga Rugby Union will accept whatever decision made by the Fiji Rugby Union board of directors regarding the ‘return to rugby plan’, says a senior team official.

The unbeaten Stallions were leading the 2021 Skipper Provincial Cup competition points table before it was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Nadroga Rugby manager, Semi Cabenalotu said it is now a waiting game for the Stallions.

“Right now for Nadroga Rugby, we are just waiting for FRU to make the call,” Cabenalotu said.

“Once they’ve made the decision then we will work our way around that.”

Cabenalotu is hopeful that the FRU would make a suitable decision for the benefit of all rugby stakeholders.

“I pray that Rugby House makes a sensible call about the competition,” he said.

“We are two months away from the end of the year. Imagine if the competition is to continue and in this situation we are still monitored to follow strict COVID-19 measures.

“So one mistake and we’re all back to square one.

“If we are given the greenlight to return to rugby then all teams will be given one month to prepare and then we have five more rounds of the Skipper Cup plus the semi-finals and final.”

Cabenalotu said they if the competition is to be played then it will be going on during the festive season.

“It would be good if we finish the competition next year but it’s FRU’s call. Well if the competition is to happen next year than player safety and welfare is properly looked at.

“For Nadroga Rugby, we will have to prepare the players well in the off season and come back stronger and continue where we left off.”
