Cop’s Alleged Rape Case Disclosures Next Month

The disclosures and information regarding a Police officer allegedly raping a female colleague will be filed next month by the prosecution at the High Court in Lautoka.

The accused Brian Ravatudei appeared before Justice Sunil Sharma yesterday. He is represented by Iqbal Khan of Iqbal Khan and Associates while the state was represented by Prenika Lata.

Ravatudei is charged with one count of rape for allegedly raping a fellow female colleague last month in Lautoka.

It is alleged that he was intoxicated and barged into the female police officer’s room and committed the offence.

The court heard that Ravatudei was currently on bail and travelling from Nasinu in Suva to attend the case hearing.

Ms Lata told the court that the state would be specifically requesting for 21 days to file the respective documents.

Mr Khan told the court that the defence would not object to this and that Ravatudei had tendered his passport in compliance with his bail conditions.

Justice Sharma said he would move for Ravatudei to take his plea in 5 weeks and adjourned the matter to November 15 for the plea. Bail was extended for Ravatudei.
