Landlord Foils Early Morning Robbery

An elderly man chased away would be home invaders as they tried to break into his tenant’s flat at Vere Road in Laucala Beach Estate, Nasinu yesterday morning.

Bal Krishna, 70, was woken up by his tenant knocking on the wall that divides their homes.

“There were four men trying to get into the house through the window. Luckily, the grills were there,” he said.

“My tenant woke up when he heard the noise and snuck out of his room to alert me.”

Mr Krishna said he ran out of the house shouting. He claimed this made the four men scatter.

He said the men jumped the fence and gate to escape.

“I called the Police and they were very fast on the scene. They searched the area and the neighbour’s yard as well,” Mr Krishna said.

“I suspect these were all young men barely 20 years old. This is really shameful. We work hard and these healthy young men come and try to steal from us.

“They want all the rewards without the years of hard work and sacrifice.”

Mr Krishna is urging all Fijians to be vigilant as criminal elements would try and take advantage of the situation.

Police investigations continue.
