Skipper Cup Decision Today

The decision on the Skipper Cup will be released today, says Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer John O’Connor.
O’Connor was meeting with Skipper Cup sponsor C J Patel yesterday regarding the provincial competition that has been on hold since April.
C J Patel representative Vishwa Sharma said it was best that FRU put out the press release.
“As sponsors FRU has advised us about their plans. We are going to work with FRU as we are very committed with the development of rugby at provincial level,” Sharma said.
The Skipper Cup competition had kicked off in April but has been put on hold following the second COVID-19 Delta variant outbreak this year.
“I am now meeting with C J Patel. We will be putting out a press release tomorrow (today),” O’Connor told SUNSports yesterday.
Meanwhile COVID-19 did not only disrupt the Skipper Cup competition this year.
The other competitions that have been put on hold include the INKK Farebrother trophy, Vodafone Vanua Championship, final leg of the Super 7s series, women, Kaji and Deans competitions.
Suva is the current holder of the Skipper Cup.
There are five more rounds after which the top four will battle in the semi-finals.
The other unions in the competition are: Namosi, Nadroga, Tailevu, Rewa, Northland, Naitasiri and Nadi.”
