A 10-month-old baby is currently admitted at the Lautoka Hospital after hot water from an opened flask which was left unattended, spilled on him.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning after a report was lodged at the Namaka Police Station in Nadi.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said the baby sustained more than 15 per cent burns.

She said Police were strongly requesting parents and guardians to monitor their children closely.

“Police are requesting parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and be aware of the dangerous hazards in and around their homes,” she said.

“We urge parents and guardians to be aware of the safety hazards in and around their homes as the inquisitive nature of children can lead to accidents.”
