Medal winning Olympians, Fiji Corrections Service staff Reijeli Daveua (bronze) and Josua Vakurinabili (gold) were promoted in acknowledgement of their success and stupendous contribution to the nation.

Along with their promotion the FCS staff finally celebrated their Olympic achievement at Naboro yesterday following the recent easing of COVID-19 protocols.

They were promoted to Corrections Officer Class A, Daveua and Corrections Officer Class B Vakurinabili.

The duo were hosted to a feast to commemorate their achievements at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The third Corrections personnel, Asaeli Tuivuaka is currently on a rugby contract in Italy.

Vakurinabili and Tuivuaka were members of the Team Fiji men’s rugby sevens team that won the gold medal while Daveua was part of Fijiana side that won bronze.

Commissioner of Corrections, Commander Francis Kean thanked them for their hardwork in doing the nation proud.

Daveua, said they were blessed to be part of an organisation that always support their sporting careers.

Vakurinabili highlighted that a major factor of his achievement was due to the support of the FCS and all its personnel.

Both athletes expressed their gratitude to the Commissioner for supporting them in their Olympic journey.

Commander Kean said both have set the bar for FCS personnel to aspire to and at the same time challenge them to reflect on this lifetime achievement.

“We are all very proud of them although we are missing the presence of our Namosi tank, Asaeli Tuivuaka,” he added.
