Fijiana Start World Cup Preparation

The Fijiana 15s team has kicked off their preparation for the Women’s World Cup at Eden Park, in Auckland, New Zealand next year.
About 30 local players in the extended squad began training on Tuesday at Bidesi Park in Suva under national coach Senirusi Seruvakula.
Yesterday assistant coach Mike Legge assisted Seruvakula oversee them run under the Suva blistering weather.
Fiji Rugby Union, chief executive officer, John O’Connor said overseas players who have also shown interest will join the squad later.
“Members of the squad go into camp next week,” O’Connor said.
“It’s all part of preparation for the World Cup.”
“Even their participation in the Drua is preparing for the World Cup.”
“There is a lot of interest from women playing top level competition in Australia, New Zealand and even in the United Kingdom (UK).”
“Majority of them are keen in playing for the Fijiana Drua and the World Cup.”
“The coach will determine the overseas players in the squad.”
“This will depend on their fitness.”
“All these depend when the Super Rugby competition commences, if it is earlier in the new year then they might gather in Australia,” O’Connor said.
