Dr Raju Commends Government Efforts On Flooding

Nadi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NCCI) President, Dr Ram Raju says more retention dams means no major flooding in Nadi.
Dr Raju assured those who were gathered at the opening of Kaifs Fish Corner (KFC) in Nadi that more retention dams would mitigate the flooding issue around Nadi Town.
“This area here is a flood prone area. Prince Charles Park, the bus stand, and the market. It has been nine years now that we haven’t had any major flooding, because of the dredging of the Nadi River, the widening of the river and the creation and construction of several retention dams.
He commended Government’s effort in following and implementing Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) reports.
“The JICA report has got stage one, two and three. Stage one has already been implemented, and very soon, there will be construction of new bridges and other mitigating factors to make sure Nadi always remains flood free,” Dr Raju added
