A 38-year-old farmer, who allegedly murdered his bedridden father in July at Navosa, will take his plea next month at the High Court in Lautoka.

Korotulu Tasere is charged with one count of murder. It is alleged that he assaulted his elderly father at their home at Draubuta Village in Navosa in July resulting in his death.

It is alleged that Tasere was drunk when he assaulted his father as he lay on his bed. The victim who was in his 60s sustained injuries and was rushed to the Navosa Hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.

Justice Daniel Goundar presided over the matter while the prosecution was represented by Taitusi Tuenuku.

Mr Tuenuku sought 21 days to file information and disclosures. Justice Goundar asked whether he also wanted to set a mention date for Tasere to take his plea, and Mr Tuenuku agreed. The court heard that Tasere was still remanded in custody. Justice Goundar adjourned the matter to November 23 for Tasere to take his plea and issued a production order.
